All The Little Details
I looooooove wedding details. LOVE THEM. They have to be one of my favourite things to photograph. I love the creative aspect – arranging your detail items in a beautiful layflat or tableau. I love YOUR creative aspect, photographing the details you meticulously prepared and placed. I love capturing live details – a toast, a tray of hors d’oeuvres being passed around, a hug, a touch.
I wanted a place to share some of my all time favourite detail photos to help inspire those who are currently planning their wedding day at one of Ottawa’s gorgeous venues, and talk a little bit more about what I love about each part of the day.
Getting Ready
I love when I arrive at the location where you’re getting ready and get to see your flowers, dress, shoes, invitations and rings for the first time. I love taking a few minutes alone to photograph these items before they carry you down the aisle on one of the biggest days of your life.
I love photographing your hands as they anxiously rest on your knee as you have your lipstick applied. I love photographing you as you glance out the window, wondering if the rain will hold off or if the sun will break. I love the beginning of the narrative of your wedding day.
The Venue
And then, there’s the venue.
Getting to see your wedding dreams come together in one beautiful room or tent or yard is just such an amazing thing.
I love it when I get to sneak into the venue space before all the guests arrive to photograph these details. Everything is perfectly placed, untouched, ready to welcome the party of a lifetime!
The Moments (And the Food!)
I love the moments. I love watching people laugh and smile. I love the looks from friends and family as they see a bride in her dress for the first time. I love hugs between old friends, a touch on the arm, I love watching a groom play with the new sensation of a wedding ring on his finger.
I love watching people rush over to grab a canape, I love the gorgeous signature cocktails you’ve prepared, I love tables of food, the amazing cakes, treats and late night snacks.
Wedding day details are my absolute jam. So much time and thought are put into making everything perfect and it’s so important to me that I capture all the little things…the little things that other people might not even notice. The little things that I know you personally took time to select because they perfectly represent you and this exceptionally special day in your life.
