What’s your style and approach to wedding photography?
My style is loose editorial. In wedding photography, “loose editorial” is a term that sits between pure documentary/candid coverage and highly posed editorial fashion work.
I focus on real, candid moments as they unfold naturally throughout the day. The goal is always to create incredible photos without pulling you out of the moment. I’ll be everywhere and nowhere all at once, capturing all the big feelings and tiny details without getting in the way of your experience.
When it comes to your portraits I'll bring in more of an editorial approach. I’ll guide you into great light, suggest a spot to stand or walk, and give you prompts without micro-managing your movements or making your photos feel stiff and overly posed. I want you to feel like yourselves, not like you’re performing.
My style is always very much influenced by the unique personalities and dynamics of each couple I work with. Since every wedding (and every couple) is so unique, I take a collaborative approach, combining my own artistic eye with the vibe and energy of each couple.
Will our photos be in colour, black and white, or a mix?
Most galleries end up being about 70–80% colour and 20–30% black and white, though it really depends on the light and mood of the day. If a photo looks beautiful both ways, I’ll often give you both versions. And if you’re someone who loves (or doesn’t love) black and white, just let me know, I'm happy to tailor things to your taste.
Do you retouch or edit the photos?
Yes! Every image in your gallery will be edited in the style you see on my website. That includes colour correction, tone adjustments, cropping, straightening, sharpening, and thoughtful black and white conversions.
I’ll also gently retouch you and your partner, softening skin and removing temporary distractions while keeping you looking like yourselves.
Do you shoot film as well as digital?
I do! I shoot the majority of the day digitally, but I always bring along a few film cameras too. I love the texture and nostalgia film brings to a gallery. It adds a bit of soul that’s hard to replicate digitally.
Booking & Planning
How far in advance should we book?
Popular dates can book up a year or more in advance, especially in summer and fall. I only take on a limited number of weddings per year so I can give each one my full attention. If you’re interested, I always recommend reaching out sooner rather than later.
Can you hold a date for us?
All bookings are first come, first served. A signed contract and $2000 retainer are needed to officially reserve your date.
We’re ready! How do we book you?
Amazing! Once you're ready to move forward, I’ll send over a quick questionnaire to get a feel for your day. From there, we’ll lock in your date with a signed contract and a retainer.
If you’d like to hop on a call before making things official, we can absolutely set up a time to chat—I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
Can we tweak our coverage later on?
Absolutely. I know timelines can shift as your day gets closer, and I’m always happy to adjust your coverage if needed. Once you have a rough itinerary, I can let you know if your current package still makes sense or if a few more (or fewer) hours would be ideal.
Are engagement sessions included?
My wedding packages are custom-built to suit each couple, so we can absolutely include an engagement session or leave it out if it’s not your thing. We’ll figure out what makes the most sense when we chat about your day.
We’re having a small wedding or elopement—do you do those?
Yes! I absolutely love smaller weddings, elopements, and backyard celebrations. Let me know your plans and we’ll come up with a coverage plan that fits.
Travel & Logistics
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! My standard coverage includes up to 150km of round-trip travel from Wakefield, Quebec. After that, travel is billed at $2/km. For weddings more than 2 hours away (each way), additional travel fees may apply.
That only applies to getting to your first location and home from your last one—travel between locations throughout your wedding day itself is always included.
I also offer flat-rate travel fees for weddings in the Kawarthas, PEC and Montreal.
Do you bring a second shooter?
Most of the time I work solo, but second photographers are available if you’d like one. They’re great for bigger weddings, split locations (like if you're getting ready separately), or if you just want extra coverage.
Having a second shooter usually means a bigger final gallery, more ceremony angles, and someone to stay at cocktail hour if we’re off taking portraits. It's totally up to you, both options are available in my pricing.
When should we start and end coverage?
For a full day, I usually start around 45 minutes before you get dressed and wrap up 20–30 minutes into the dance floor.
My couples get access to my sample timelines to help figure out how much time is needed for each part of the day.
What kind of gear do you use?
I shoot with high-end Canon mirrorless cameras and a bunch of prime lenses—mostly 35mm and 50mm, but also 85mm, 135mm, macro, and a few others. I use flash after dark and always bring backup gear, just in case (though thankfully I’ve never had to use it!).
Are you bilingual?
Not fully—sorry! While I can understand spoken French and I can speak some French, I’m still working on building confidence with speaking it fluently within the context of directing a wedding day. I'm 100% comfortable photographing bilingual weddings, but please note that I do direct my weddings exclusively in English.
Do you carry liability insurance?
Yes. I carry liability insurance and can provide documentation to your venue if required.
What happens if you’re sick or there’s an emergency?
Your wedding day is incredibly important to me. If an unexpected illness or emergency prevented me from attending your wedding, I would make every reasonable effort to arrange trusted replacement coverage. I would remain involved throughout, edit the images myself, and deliver your final gallery in my style. Full details are outlined in my contract.
In over a decade of photographing weddings, I’ve never missed one.
Deliverables
How many photos will we receive?
For a full wedding day, you’ll usually receive between 500–1000 edited images. I don’t send every single photo I take. Instead, I carefully curate your gallery so it tells the full story of your day without overwhelming you with near-duplicates.
The final number varies because every wedding day unfolds differently. The size of your wedding party, how much portrait time we build into your timeline, the level of detail and decor, whether you’ve added a second photographer, and how your day flows all naturally impact the total image count.
Weddings aren’t one size fits all, so gallery size isn’t either. What stays consistent is that you’ll receive a complete, thoughtfully edited story of your day, with all the meaningful moments preserved.
What happens to the photos we don’t get?
If an image is well-lit, flattering, and adds to the story of your day, it stays in. I don’t hold back great photos for no reason.
During the culling process, I remove anything that’s unflattering, repetitive, test shots, or moments that don’t quite translate. This ensures your gallery feels cohesive, intentional, and easy to relive without scrolling through dozens of near-identical frames.
If a photo wasn’t included, it’s simply because it didn’t meet the standard I set for your final collection.
When will we get our gallery?
Your full gallery will be ready within 30 days of your wedding.
How will we receive our photos?
I’ll send you a private, password-protected online gallery where you can view, download, and share all your images.
Can we print the photos ourselves?
Yes! You have full printing rights for all your images and can print them wherever you like. That said, you’ll also be able to order pro-quality prints directly from your gallery if you want an easy option.
Will you post our photos online?
I may share a few images on my website or social media. If you’d prefer your photos not be shared, just let me know during the booking process.
How are our photos backed up?
I photograph on dual memory cards, which means every image is recorded to two cards simultaneously. After your wedding, your photos are backed up in multiple locations to ensure they’re safe throughout the editing process.
About Me
Will you be the one photographing our wedding?
Yes, always! When you hire me, I’ll be the one showing up and documenting your day from start to finish, no team of associate photographers here.
How long have you been doing this?
I started second shooting weddings back in 2009, and I’ve been photographing them full time since 2015. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve shot at this point!
Who is Anita Peeples? Tell us about yourself!
I’m a wedding photographer, gardener, cocktail enthusiast, and proud mom of two young girls. I live just outside of Wakefield, Quebec with my husband Josh (we were high school friends who turned into something more), our daughters Wren and Sunny, two cats named Percy and Pinto, and a Rottweiler, Pineapple. Josh and I got married at a lakeside cottage back in 2017, so I have a special love for weddings that feel personal and grounded in nature.
I’m a Taurus sun, Leo moon, and Virgo rising, which basically means I’m all about comfort, beauty and doing things right. I love slow mornings, lush gardens, thoughtful details, and a glass of something delicious in the hot tub after a long day.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me in the garden or the kitchen. I adore cooking and baking—my dream is to be on The Great Canadian Baking Show someday (if only it didn’t film right in the middle of wedding season!).
All of that shapes how I photograph weddings, I’m drawn to warmth, connection, and celebrations that feel grounded and personal.
