Madi and Scott’s downtown Ottawa engagement session was one of those evenings that just flowed. They were so easy to be around, totally open to exploring, laughing, and trying things, while also coming in with a few ideas of their own that they were excited to capture. I always love when couples bring their vision into a session. It turns the shoot into more of a collaboration and makes the photos feel even more personal!

They're getting married at the NAC next summer, and I already know it is going to be a highlight of my 2026 season. If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be full of energy, connection, and so many great moments!

A quick tip on timing downtown engagement sessions

If you're dreaming of downtown Ottawa for your engagement photos, I always recommend scheduling in the spring or summer, when the sun sets later in the evening. Earlier sunsets in late summer and fall tend to line up with rush hour, especially now that many government workers are back in office, which can mean much busier and crowded streets to contend with. The quiet streets that we get during a late spring or summer sunset give us more freedom to move, more space to create, and a more relaxed experience overall, without feeling like we are competing with foot traffic.
